Dr. Michael Feldmeier, M.D.
Dr. Michael Feldmeier, M.D. is a general adult psychiatrist as well as child and adolescent psychiatry specialist. He is ABPN Board Certified for Adult General Psychiatry as well as Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Feldmeier received his Bachelor’s of Science from University of California, Riverside in Biological Sciences. He then completed his Medical School education at Rush Medical College of Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Dr. Feldmeier advanced to his Fellowship in Child Psychiatry with special permission from his program directer after completing his second year of residency training and then completed his Child Psychiatry training from the UCLA West Los Angeles Veteran Affairs Child and Adolescent Psychiatry program – During this time Dr. Feldmeier served as Chief Fellow of the Program. Dr. Feldmeier then returned to general residency training as Chief Resident of the UCLA Olive View Psychiatry Residency Training Program and graduated as Resident of the Year in 2020.
Dr. Feldmeier has special interest in the effects of ubiquitous daily use of technology on human relationships which includes the effects from video games, social media, and mobile phone use. As technology becomes more seamlessly woven into our lives, a person’s digital psycho-social experiences become equally important to as a person’s real life. Other psychiatric interests include a focus on ADHD, impulse control disorders, anxiety, depression, OCD, and Tourette’s syndrome.
Dr. Feldmeier has recently launched the website Levelupmentalhealth.com in advance of opening a private practice of the same name, both with the mission to treat patients under a techno-bio-psycho-social framework. His goal is to provide culturally sensitive care all of his patients, with special focus on one’s digital lifestyle. A significant portion of a person’s life is spent looking at a screen, we can no longer ignore the impact that this can have on one’s mental and physical health.
Dr. Feldmeier is also appointed as Voluntary Clinical Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and teaches Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the UCLA Olive View Medical Center Psychiatry Residency.
